This week Photo-eye launched The Art Photo Index. I am proud and excited to be part of this wonderful photo library. This project, spearheaded by Rixon Reed of Photo-eye, was more then two years in the making. I congratulate them on a job well done. I encourage all lovers of photography to visit and browse all the extraordinary work to be seen there.

Happy Thanksgiving to One and All

This Turkey found its way into my yard when I was living in Locust Valley on Long Island in New York. Quite a handsome fella, no? There was a small group of wild turkeys that had made their home in the woods near the beach there. We called local authorities because of its huge size. It was as large as a human 3 year old. They told us to let it be. They said it would be gone by nightfall, back up into the trees and in fact, it was.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. I wish everyone a safe, happy holiday surrounded by the ones you love.

Polaroid Fun

I received an SX 70 camera as a gift. I was so excited. Unfortunately the camera did not work. These are examples of what happened as the film passed through the feed. The partial circles are tubes I photographed in the pool. Eventually even the rollers stopped feeding the film through the camera. I really must find someone who can repair this camera.

Marc Johns Pearls of Wisdom
I stumbled across this somewhere on the internet. It's by artist Marc Johns. It struck me as so funny. I can think of a lot of days as an artist that I might feel like this. Stop by his website for more of his work. http://www.marcjohns.com/

Happy Fourth!!

I always liked this image of fireworks. It almost looks as though its in the shape of the American flag, in an abstract way of course. Happy Fourth of July to everyone who reads my blog and those that just happen to stop by. All the best for a great summer!

There is nothing like a few hours at the beach to recharge ones batteries. In fact, even a quick walk is revitalizing. The sites, the sounds, the colors and the smells all soothe the senses.

Lindos on the Island of Rhodos, Greece

The blissful town of Lindos on the island of Rhodos in Greece. I remember snorkeling in the sea here. When I submerged myself in those resplendent blue waters the sea floor was dotted with hundreds of tiny star fish. It was one of the most beautiful and amazing things I'd ever seen. It was as if the heavens were glittering, glowing, and sparkling at my feet.

The Renewal of Spring
© 2012 Constance Hobbs. All rights reserved.
Living in south east Florida one doesn't experience the renewal of spring in quite the same way as one does living in a cold environment. There are subtle changes here but not the dramatic ones that cold environments afford. The images above of the lovely azalea bush I naturally took while living up north. I miss the drama of the changing seasons. It's just too bad that one can't have it all in life. There is always the giving up of one thing to enjoy the other.

They're back! I went for a walk this morning along the beach and found these jellyfish all over the shoreline. It doesn't seem to keep the swimmers out of the water but these little babies can deliver a powerful sting. The bulbous or fan part stays afloat but those long venomous tentacles drift dangerously beneath. I find them so unusual in appearance.
