Labor Day weekend has come and gone. The summer season is officially over. Sweet images of summer swim around in my brain. Time to get back to business. The serious business of marketing. We creative people just want to do, well, the creative work. The business side of art making, marketing, we resist like the plague. But, as every artist knows it is so important and must be addressed. I envy artists who are natural promoters. Often times it is they, whether the most talented or not, who end up succeeding. Time to develop a plan, strategy and to stick to it!

Fun in the Sun

The constant question or debate concerning man's connectedness to others and all of life or his inherent separateness. Does God or a higher power exist or is life completely random? Dangerous Water!

Summer is here and if you are spending it by the sea there are some things to consider. Or even if you are at the Lake. Water can be dangerous. One only has to think of Jaws to be reminded of that. I'm a beach lover. I rarely think about the dangers too much. But, the other day the beach had their purple flags flying. That's a warning for dangerous marine life. One thinks of sharks right away, but this warning was for seriously dangerous jelly fish. We all know they can give a serious sting and in some parts of the world even cause death (box jellyfish). Swimming at night means you can't see them. So be careful!

Robyn O'Brien's Unhealthy Truth
I heard Robyn O'Brien speak on Ted Talks today and was blown away by what this woman had to say regarding big business and the government playing and meddling with our food supply. This is very serious and scary stuff! It's new and recent data. I bought her book above immediately after hearing what she had to say. Every parent should be well informed about this.
I don't know about you but since my children were born I noticed all the increases in food allergies, Austism, Asthma, ADD and ADHD. I thought the numbers hadn't really increased but that I was simply made more aware by our information-saturation-world. I told myself people just didn't hear about these things before. Well, not so. These things are real and on the rise. If you can spare the time, listen to what she has to say. You will be glad you did.

This Turkey found its way into my yard when I was living in Locust Valley on Long Island in New York. Quite a handsome fella, no? There was a small group of wild turkeys that had made their home in the woods near the beach there. We called local authorities because of its huge size. It was as large as a human 3 year old. They told us to let it be. They said it would be gone by nightfall, back up into the trees and in fact, it was.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. I wish everyone a safe, happy holiday surrounded by the ones you love.

Polaroid Fun

I received an SX 70 camera as a gift. I was so excited. Unfortunately the camera did not work. These are examples of what happened as the film passed through the feed. The partial circles are tubes I photographed in the pool. Eventually even the rollers stopped feeding the film through the camera. I really must find someone who can repair this camera.

There is nothing like a few hours at the beach to recharge ones batteries. In fact, even a quick walk is revitalizing.The sites, the sounds, the colors and the smells all soothe the senses.

Lindos on the Island of Rhodos, Greece

The blissful town of Lindos on the island of Rhodos in Greece. I remember snorkeling in the sea here. When I submerged myself in those resplendent blue waters the sea floor was dotted with hundreds of tiny star fish. It was one of the most beautiful and amazing things I'd ever seen. It was as if the heavens were glittering, glowing, and sparkling at my feet.
